What's behind West Ham's spending?
|
No one seems to have questioned this? Why are they spending more than they have ever spent at any club. All seems a bit weird that it's basically got pegged down as a result of the fans unrest but it hasn't forced there hand before. It was also weird that Swallows group went quiet after they met them with them saying they were satisfied with what they heard.
Why the change of track? I heard a rumour the other day it's due to Tripp Smith with a view to the rest of Black Stone getting involved but surely they would have got involved and then done this as doing it the other way just increases the value first...

I also heard the rumour about Blackstone but like you say it makes no sense. I heard they had an agreement in place to buy a majority stake with G&S taking a back seat. Cant see that every happening!

They had the same issues at Birmingham and it never meant they spent.
They had previous with us and never spent.

Exactly. Everyone knows they don't give a fuck about the fans. There has to be more behind it.

I asked this question a few weeks ago and we've spent more since. I put it down to Trip Smith's investing. Either as a stimulus for Sullivan & Gold to make themselves popular again to resist a takeover or for Smith to add funds...

I think it's simply because over the past few seasons the likes of WATFORD, WBA, and CRYSTAL FUCKING PALACE were spending more than us, so I reckon we had the money, it's just they were being tight and sitting on it.
I think they realised they were going to have to do something special this summer, and when a high caliber manager in Pellegrini agreed to join us this summer they released it.

We made 45m profit in the first season at the OS and most likely topped that last season, so we are just spending what we have generated.
There would have been an announcement had any shareholder pumped money in.

I posted on here a few months ago about us being bought out but new owners not taking over for I think, 2 years. Same mate who told me this has said it’ll be all change soon and this spending is all the new lots money. The mate who told me is very pally with Sullivan’s good mate who owns Woolston manor golf club

The whole thing has been carefully planned. Once the team is successful they'll start on the stadium.

Plus struggling to get a result against those sides is a major factor. Losing to Brighton did it for me.

That’s the other thing I heard as well. Stadium will be bought and then turned into a proper football stadium.

They'll start spending money on a stadium they don't own despite the fact they sell 52k STs to it anyway, oioi?
Talk me through the business case for this please as I'll be fucked if I can see one.

It's all a bit mystifying!
Personally, I don't believe it's anything to do with fan power
Of course, it would be great to see the LS owned by the club, knocked down & a proper football stadium built in it's place. Then the overall value of the club really would sky rocket
It seems that nobody is happy with the current deal & the major etc would be only too happy to unload the bloody thing. Remember that all this fcuking mess was entirely caused by Tottenham
Wasn't there talk about a grand new atheletics stadium being built in Birmingham a while back? Perhaps there's been some sort of agreement for atheletic to piss off there in the future & then there might be a chance of us getting a proper fit-for-purpose football stadium

Sold the way my mate was talking was that we’d be moving out for a while so knock down or major work either way.

Kahn is desperate to get the stadium off the tax payers books, I'm convinced we will buy it at some point

Khan and any other government bean counters should help get the truth out that all the money pit problems are not West Ham's fault and name and shame those who are to blame, be they left or right, as both sides are culpable. This will speed up political and economic and only solution to the problem, which is for us to take the thing off the tax payers' hands.
